Antique battle map of the Segre river. With detailed legend explaining the various elements of the print. This print most likely originates from an edition of 'The Commentaries of Caesar, Translated into English. To Which is Prefixed a Discourse Concerning The Roman Art of War' by William Duncan.
The Segre (Spanish and Catalan: Segre, French: Sègre) is a tributary of the Ebro. The Segre was known in ancient times to the Greeks and Romans as the Sicoris. The river rises on the Pic del Segre in the French Pyrenees. This mountain is located in the comarca Alta Cerdanya in the old Spanish province of Roussillon, in the current French department of Pyrénées-Orientales.
