Large print with two image on one sheet. The upper image is titled 'Hudibras's first adventure'. Hudibras and Ralpho encounter a mob armed with sticks; in the foreground to right, a one-legged fiddler, a butcher and a dancing bear with his leader. The lower image is titled 'Hudibras, Catechiz'd'.
Hudibras is being beaten by masked men dressed as devils; the scene is the bedroom of the widow who stands in the doorway; to left, Ralpho hides behind a curtain. Engraved by T. Cook after W. Hogarth. Hudibras is an English mock heroic narrative poem from the 17th century written by Samuel Butler.
Condition: Good. General age-related toning. Some wear and soiling. Please study image carefully.
