Antique print titled 'Neu Yorck - La nouvelle Yorck'. Beautiful optical print, also called 'vue optique' or 'vue d'optique', which were made to be viewed through a Zograscope, or other devices of convex lens and mirrors, all of which produced an optical illusion of depth. Includes a description in both German and French which translates to 'New York, a city in North America on an island called Manhattan, near the estuary of the Hudson River, which was first settled by the Dutch in 1615 and called it 'New Amsterdam'. In 1666 it was captured by the British and named 'New York'.
Condition: Fair. General age-related toning, blank verso. Small defects, mainly in margins. Repair of a hole in the facade of the building. Please study images carefully.
