Antique print titled '1. Le Serran Colon (Serranus Colonus), 2. Le Savonier aux Deux Couleurs (Rypticus Bicolor)'. The Mottled Soapfish, Rypticus bicolor, whose common Spanish name is jaboncillo arrecifal, is a species in the Grouper or Epinephelidae Family, known collectively as serranos in Mexico. The creole fish feeds in large groups, often very close to the surface of the water. However, this species tends to hide immediately when alarmed. This print originates from 'Voyage autour du monde sur la frégate La Venus (..)' by Gide, Paris, 1846.
