Antique bird print titled 'Gatt Palamedea'. Large lithograph of the horned screamer, a member of a small family of birds, the Anhimidae, which occurs in wetlands of tropical South America. There are three screamer species, the other two being the southern screamer and the northern screamer in the genus Chauna. They are related to the ducks, geese and swans, which are in the family Anatidae, but have bills looking more like those of game birds. This print originates from 'Naturalist Atlas' by Georg August Goldfuss.
This extra large-size collection of lithographs with gorgeous recent coloring depicting animals, birds, reptiles, fish, etc. published in Duesseldorf, at Arnz from 1824 -1842 This work was issued over this long period of time in series of twenty prints each per annum. There are no officially bound copies and they were issued uncolored.
Condition: Good. Later hand coloring, general age-related toning. Minor wear and small defects, blank verso. Please study image carefully.
